I Will Speak of Excellent Things - Proverbs 8:6

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “O you simple, understand wisdom: and, you fools, be you of an understanding heart”, and in chapter eight and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “hear; for I will speak of excellent things” where we read,

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

The verse begins, Hear; for I will speak of excellent things;. Solomon began with the word, “hear” or “listen, perceive, give heed and pay attention”; for I will speak which means “because, since and on account that I, Solomon personifying wisdom, shall utter, declare and make proclamations” “of excellent things” or “pertaining to trustworthy, important and noble ideas”. Solomon called upon people who are simpletons and foolish to pay attention to “wisdom's” proclamation of trustworthy and important ways to live.

The verse continues, “and the opening of my lips shall be right things.” Solomon added the words, “and the opening” or “and the aperture of utterance” “of my lips” which means “pertaining to my, wisdom's, lips used for speaking” “shall be right things” or “will exist according to uprightness, straightness, equity and rectitude”. Solomon said “wisdom” would employ the aperture of it's lips to utter and declared straight, equitable and upright ideas.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how God desires to give His “wisdom” to everyone. This book of Proverbs is proof enough that God wants us to be wise, and as an extra measure He provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we may be forgiven and establish a personal relationship with Him. God is for us, and He loves us. When we yield our lives to Him as our “Lord and Savior”, He provides us with marvelous “wisdom” for circumstances and situations we encounter in our lives. He is speaking, and those who are wise open their hearts, minds and ears to perceive His “excellent and right things”.

Next time Solomon says, “my mouth shall speak truth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
