My Mouth Speaking Truth - Proverbs 8:7

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “O you simple, understand wisdom: and, you fools, be you of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things”, and in chapter eight and verse seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “my mouth shall speak truth” where we read,

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

The verse begins, “For my mouth shall speak truth;. Solomon began with the words, “for my mouth” or “because, since and on account that my, Solomon personifying wisdom's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking” shall speak truth which means “will utter, declare and proclaim firmness, faithfulness, stability and reliability”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” would utter and declare firm, faithful and reliable words and ideas.

The verse goes on to say, “and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.” Solomon continued with the words, “and wickedness” or “and wrong, guilt, and crime against civil law” “is an abomination” which means “exists as a disgusting, idolatrous and morally abhorrent” “to my lips” or “toward my, Solomon personifying wisdom's, lips used for uttering and speaking”. Solomon said crime and moral iniquity were disgusting to “wisdom's” speaking.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon not only how God's “wisdom” makes reliable and faithful utterances, but also how evil and wrong exist as morally abhorrent to the “wisdom” of God. God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and provided with His Holy Spirit who shall guide us by His “wisdom” into all truth and away from that which is evil, idolatrous and against His moral law. (See John 16:13)

Next time Solomon says, “all the words of my mouth are in righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
