The LORD Possessed Me - Proverbs 8:22

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment. That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-two of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way” where we read,

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

The verse begins, “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, ... Solomon began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” possessed me which means “acquired, obtained and redeemed me, wisdom” “in the beginning” or “within the first, best, chief and choice part” “of his way” which means “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, road, journey, path, manner and habit”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God possessed “wisdom” at the very start and choice part of His manner and habit.

The verse goes on to say, “... before his works of old.” Solomon continued with the words, “before his works” or “in advance and prior to his, Jehovah God's, performances, deeds and things made” “of old” which means “belonging to the past or that time”. Solomon said Jehovah God possessed “wisdom” in advance of His performances and deeds belonging to the past.

When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how Jehovah God possessed “wisdom” in the very start of his journey and in advance of His deeds from olden time. God created the world and everything that is in it. He employed His “wisdom” to make things according to His Divine pleasure, and His marvelous deeds are a testament to His wise ways. This same God desires to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His creative “wisdom” from “old” to bless our lives.

Next time Solomon says, “I was set up from everlasting”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
