In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “the LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-four of Proverbs Solomon said, “when there were no depths, I was brought forth” where we read,
When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
The verse begins, “When there were no depths, I was brought forth;” Solomon began with the words, “when there were no depths” or “at the time and moment there existed not any deep places, abysses or seas”, “I was brought forth” which means “I, wisdom, twisted, travailed, whirled about, dance and writhed”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” was active as though dancing and whirling about before there were any seas or deep places within them.
The verse goes on to say, “when there were no fountains abounding with water.” Solomon continued with the words, “when there were no fountains” or “at the time and moment there existed not any springs, wells or sources” “abounding with water” which means “with a heavy, weighty and abundant supply of water flow”. Solomon said “wisdom” existed in advance of the abundantly flowing springs and wells.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how “wisdom” existed before the deep places in the seas and the springs which are overflowing with water. God employed His “wisdom” to create the “seas and fountains” of the earth, and He invites us to partake of His wonderful deployment of knowledge. God loves us, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to acquire His water creating “wisdom” for the circumstances and situations we encounter in our lives.
Next time Solomon shares how wisdom was established, “before the mountains” and “the hills”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
