While the Earth Was Not Made - Proverbs 8:26

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom was established, “while as yet he had not made the earth” where we read,

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

The verse begins, “While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, ...” Solomon began with the words, “while as yet he had not made the earth” or “during the time that he, Jehovah God, had not fashioned or formed the country, territory, region and world”, “nor the fields” which means “no and not in any way the outside chutes or highways”. Solomon said “wisdom” was established prior to Jehovah God creating the world and the outside chutes and highways within it.

The verse goes on to say “... nor the highest part of the dust of the world.” Solomon continued with the words, “nor the highest part” or “no and not in any way the summit, upper part, chief and height” “of the dust” which means “belonging to the dry earth, powder, ashes, ground, mortar or debris” “of the world” or “belonging to the country, territory, region and earth”. Solomon said the powdery summits of the earth were not fashioned or formed without “wisdom” existing before them.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the “earth, fields and highest part of the dust” were not fashioned or formed without “wisdom” preceding them. God not only knew how to create the world and the things within it, but He employed wise ways to form them. This same Almighty God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with His creative “wisdom” whenever we ask Him for it. (See James 1:5)
