The LORD's Name is a Strong Tower - Proverbs 18:10

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster”, and in chapter eighteen and verse ten of Proverbs Solomon said, “the name of the LORD is a strong tower” where we read,

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.

The verse begins, The name of the LORD is a strong tower:Solomon began with the words, “the name of the LORD” or “the fame, reputation and glory belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is a strong tower” which means “exists as a mighty, powerful, majestic and secure rostrum, castle or pyramidal bed”. Solomon shared how the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God exists like a powerful and mighty fortress or castle.

The verse goes on to say, “the righteous runs into it, and is safe.” Solomon continued with the words, “the righteous runs into it” or “the person who is right, just, lawful and correct darts swiftly, moves quickly and hurries into the strong tower”, “and is safe” which means “and exists as inaccessibly high, exalted and secure”. Solomon said the person who is just and lawful hurries into the “strong tower” name of Jehovah God and becomes exalted and secure.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory are a “safe” haven for anyone who quickly moves inside it. God loves us, and He is our provider and protector especially toward those who yield their lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind as their “Savior and Lord”. When we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be “righteous” so we will “run” into His “name” and be secure from whatever we encounter in our lives.

Next time Solomon says, “the rich man's wealth is his strong city”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
