Wealth Makes Many Friends - Proverbs 19:4

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD”, and in chapter nineteen and verse four of Proverbs Solomon said, “wealth makes many friends” where we read,

Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbor.

The verse begins, Wealth makes many friends;Solomon began with the word, “wealth” or “riches, substance, price and value” “makes many friends” which means “adds and increases abounding, numerous and a great number of intimate companions, fellow-citizens and neighbors”. Solomon said riches and value increases the number of intimate companions and neighbors of a person.

The verse goes on to say, “but the poor is separated from his neighbor.” Solomon continues with the words, “but the poor is separated” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the person who is impoverished, weak, low and lean exists as divided, scattered abroad and severed apart” “from his neighbor” which means “from their intimate companion, fellow citizen or friend”. Solomon said the person who is impoverished and weak exists as divided and severed from their intimate companions and friends.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the difference between the number of friends and neighbors people have who possess riches and those who do not. God distributes material goods and substance according to His divine will, and when we abide by His ways, He will bless us according to His measure. God gave us the most valuable riches when He provided salvation through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and as we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bring relationships into our lives according to the “wealth” that we receive from Him.

Next time Solomon says, “a false witness shall not be unpunished”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
