A Horrible Thing - Hosea 6:10

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood. And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness, and in chapter six and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, I have seen an horrible thing where we read,

I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel:

there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

The verse begins, I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel:” Hosea began with the words, “I have seen an horrible thing” or “I, Jehovah God, have observed, recognized, perceived, discovered and discerned a fearful and awful act and deed” “in the house” which means “within the dwelling place, habitation and abode” “of Israel” or “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said He discovered and observed an awful act within the nation of “Israel”.

The verse goes on to say, there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.” Hosea continued with the words, “there is the whoredom” or “there exists the spiritual fornication, adultery and idolatry” “of Ephraim” which means “belonging to Ephraim whose name means double ash-heap or I shall be doubly fruitful and was the name sometimes used for the northern kingdom”, “Israel is defiled” or “Israel, whose means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob, exists as unclean, polluted and impure”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God observed the spiritual adultery and idolatry belonging to “Ephraim” causing “Israel” to become polluted and impure.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God was aware of the spiritual adultery and idolatry that was within “Ephraim” which caused the impurity within “Israel”. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with everyone, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from spiritual idolatry and the resulting “defilement” that comes from being associated with false gods and their ways.

Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God says, Also, O Judah, he has set an harvest for you, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
