In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “Israel slides back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place, Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give you”, and in chapter four and verse nineteen of Hosea, Hosea said, “the wind has bound up her in her wings” where we read,
The wind has bound her up in her wings,
and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
The verse begins, “The wind has bound her up in her wings, ...” Hosea began with the words, “the wind” or “the breath, spirit and living being” “has bound her up” which means “has distressed, made narrow and besieged her, Ephraim” “in her wings” or “within Ephraim's boarders, skirts, corners and extremities”. Hosea shared how the spirit within the people of Ephraim distressed and besieged her corners and extremities.
The verse goes on to say, “... and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.” Hosea continued with the words,“and they shall be ashamed” or “and they, the people in Ephraim, will exist as disconcerted and disappointed” “because of their sacrifices” which means “since and on account of their, the people of Ephraim's, covenants and thank offerings”. Hosea shared how the people of Ephraim will exist as disappointed on account of their covenants and thank offerings.
When we think through Hosea's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God knew the results of worshiping false gods. The people of Ephraim or Israel would be blown away by their spirit that was against Jehovah God, and when the final judgment comes, they will experience disappointment because of their covenants and thank offerings. God wants us to worship Him and Him alone, and He is the only True God who provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion to allow our “spirits” to give Him honor and glory for all eternity.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Hosea say, “Hear you this, O priests; and hearken, you house of Israel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
