In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early”, and in chapter six and verse one of Hosea, Hosea said, “Come, and let us return unto the LORD” where we read,
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he has torn, and he will heal us;
he has smitten, and he will bind us up.
The verse begins, “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he has torn, and he will heal us;” Hosea began with the words, “come, and let us return” or “walk, depart, leave and proceed, and allow and permit us, the people of Ephraim, Israel and Judah, to come back and be restored” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”: “for he has torn” or “because, since and on account that He, Jehovah God, has rent, plucked and torn in pieces”, “and he will heal us” which means “and he, Jehovah God, shall repair, mend and cure us, Ephraim, Israel and Judah”. Hosea called upon the people of “Ephraim, Israel and Judah” to proceed toward the presence of Jehovah God, and even though He ripped them in pieces, He would repair and mend them.
The verse continues, “he has smitten, and he will bind us up.” Hosea added the words, “he has smitten” or “he, Jehovah God, struck, hit, beat, slayed and killed”, “and he will bind us up” which means “and he, Jehovah God, shall bandage, enwrap and heal us, Ephraim, Israel and Judah”. Hosea recognized that Jehovah God was the source of “Ephraim, Israel and Judah's, adversity, but He would bandage and heal them when they return to Him.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Hosea called upon the people of “Ephraim, Israel and Judah” to proceed forward and permit themselves to go back to Jehovah God. Even though God brought and allowed judgment to fall upon them, when they turned themselves back to Him, He would cure and heal them. God wants to have a personal intimate relationship with every person, and He sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of every person in the world. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to remain faithful to Him and His ways so we do not experience His wrath and have need for Him to “bind us up”.
Next time Hosea says, “after two days he will revive us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
