In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, you commit whoredom, and Israel is defiled”, and in chapter five and verse four of Hosea, Hosea said, “they will not frame their doings to turn unto their God” where we read,
They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God:
for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.
The verse begins, “They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God:” Hosea began with the words, “they will not frame their doings” or “they, the people in Ephraim and Israel, shall in no way or manner set, put, devote or consecrate their, the people of Ephraim and Israel's, acts, practices and deeds” “to turn unto their God” which means “to come back and return to their, the people of Ephraim and Israel's, Supreme Deity and True God”. Hosea shared how the people of Ephraim and Israel would in no way or manner devote themselves to returning to Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.” Hosea continued with the words, “for the spirit of whoredoms” or “because, since and on account that the breath, mind, vivacity and vigor pertaining to spiritual fornication and adultery” “is in the midst of them” which means “exists within the core or middle of the people of Ephraim and Israel”, “and they have not known the LORD” or “and they, the people of Ephraim and Israel, have in no way or manner perceived, found, discerned, discriminated, distinguished and recognize Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Hosea shared how he and Jehovah God knew the mind of spiritual adultery was in the middle of the people within Ephraim and Israel, and they in no way recognized Jehovah God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Hosea how the of Ephraim and Israel were so entrenched in their ways that they did not devote their acts or deeds to Jehovah God. They had a mindset that was according to spiritual adultery and idolatry. They did not “know” God, and this was not the way He wanted it to be. (See John 17:3) God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion for knowing and loving Him more every day.
Next time Hosea says, “the pride of Israel does testify to his face”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
