House Beams of Cedar - Song of Songs 1:17

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom and bride said, “behold, you are fair, my love; behold, you art fair; you have doves' eyes. Behold, you are fair, my beloved, yes, pleasant: also our bed is green”, and in chapter one and verse seventeen of Song of Songs Solomon shared how the bride said, the beams of our house are cedar where we read,

The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.

The verse begins, The beams of our house are cedar, ...” Solomon began with the words, “the beams of our house” or “the rafters or roof belonging to our, the bride and groom's, dwelling place, habitation and abode” “are cedar” which means “exist as the cedar tree or timbers”. Solomon shared how the bride said the rafters or roof within their dwelling place was the “cedar trees or timbers”.

The verse goes on to say, ... and our rafters of fir. Solomon continued with the words, “and our rafters” or “and our, the bride and groom's, boards or panels resembling a trough” “of fir” which means “made of juniper, pine, cypress or fir tree”. Solomon shared how the bride said the boards or panels of their dwelling place were like the elastic trees such as the juniper, cypress or pine.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon continued to share the bride's view of the dwelling place of she and her groom. They were outdoors, and the “beams and rafters” of their abode were made with “cedar and fir” trees. In other words, the outdoor world was where they lived. God knows exactly where we are, and within the world, wherever we may be, He desires to have an intimate loving relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide for us wherever we are in the earth and also in the “place” that He is preparing for us in Heaven above. (See John 14:2)

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon share how the bride says, I am the rose of Sharon, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
