Where Do You Feed? - Song of Songs 1:7

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun has looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but my own vineyard have I not kept”, and in chapter one and verse seven of Song of Songs Solomon shared how the bride said, tell me, O You whom my soul loves, where you feed where we read,

Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, where you feed, where you make your flock to rest at noon:

for why should I be as one that turns aside by the flocks of your companions?

The verse begins, Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, where you feed, where you make your flock to rest at noon:”Solomon began with the words, “tell me” or “declare and make known to me, the bride”, “O you whom my soul loves” which means “O you, the groom, that my, the bride's, heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions have affections and appetite”, “where you feed” or “in what place or location you, the groom, pasture, tend, graze and shepherd”, “where you make your flock to rest at noon” which means “in what place and location you, the groom, cause your, the groom's, sheepfold, cattle and goats to stretch out, lie down and lay at midday”. Solomon shared how the bride desired for the groom to whom her heart, mind and will had affection to share with her in what location he grazed his sheepfolds and cattle and in what place he caused them to lie down at midday.

The verse goes on to say, for why should I be as one that turns aside by the flocks of your companions? Solomon continued with the words, “for why should I be” or “because, since and on account that for what reason is it that I, the bride, need to exist” “as one that turns aside” which means “similar and in likeness to the person who veils, envelopes or covers themselves” “by the flocks” or “beside the sheepfolds and cattle” “of your companions” which means “belonging to your, the groom's, associates, fellows or united ones”? Solomon shared how the bride questioned the reason she needed to exist similar to a veiled woman beside the sheepfolds or cattle which belonged to his fellows or associates.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon shared the questions asked by the bride of her groom to be. She wanted to know the location that he fed his sheepfold and the place where he caused them to lie down at midday. She wondered for what reason she needed to exist among the veiled women or prostitutes who went alongside his associates' sheepfolds and cattle. In other words, she desired to be with the groom and no one else. God wants us to be exclusive to Him and no other gods because He is the Only God who sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to stay close to Him and never want to be among those what have no power to save or deliver us.

Next time Solomon shares how the groom says, go your way forth, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
