In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you. And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again”, and in chapter two and verse thirteen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD” where we read,
Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
The verse reads, “Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD:” Zechariah began with the words, “be silent” or “hold peace, hold your tongue and hush”, “O all flesh” which means “O each, every, the whole and everyone of the kindred, people and mankind”, “before the LORD” or “in front, in the presence, face and countenance of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah instructed every person to hold their peace in the face and countenance of Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “for he is raised up out of his holy habitation .” Zechariah added the words, “for he is raised up” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, exists as roused, awaken and stirred up” “out of his holy habitation” which means “from his sacred and set apart dwelling, habitation, lair and refuge”. Zechariah shared how all “flesh” was to be “silent” in the presence of Jehovah God because He was risen from His sacred and set apart dwelling place.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how he called upon every person to be quiet in the presence of Jehovah God because He was arisen from His sacred and set-apart dwelling place. When God arises, all people should pay attention, and because He loves us, He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. If we will humble ourselves before Him, repent of our sins and believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a “holy” reverence for Jehovah God whenever He stands within His “holy habitation”.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Zechariah share how the angel showed him, “Joshua the high priest standing before the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
