Chariots with Red Horses - Zechariah 6:2

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass”, and in chapter six and verse two of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “in the first chariot were red horses” where we read,

In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;

The verse reads, “In the first chariot were red horses;” Zechariah began with the words, “in the first chariot” or “within the primary and foremost carriage or transport” “were red horses” which means “existed horses that appeared in a rosy and ruddy red color”. Zechariah shared how the primary “chariot” was drawn by horses that were a ruddy red color. 

The verse goes on to say, “and in the second chariot black horses;” Zechariah continued with the words, “and in the second chariot” or “and within the next chariot following the primary one were” “black horses” which means “horses that were black in color”. Zechariah shared how the next carriage or transport was drawn by horses that were colored “black”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the first two horse drawn “chariots” were identified by the color of the horses that pulled them. The primary carriage had “red horses” and the second one had “black horses”. We shall find out the significance of these chariots and horses in our next few verses, but for reference we can compare these chariots and horses to the ones mentioned in Revelation chapter six. God has a plan for these spiritual forces over the people and land of Israel, and the preservation of Israel was necessary because they would be responsible for bringing forth God's Messiah Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust In Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us understanding concerning His spiritual works according to His Divine purpose and plan. 

Next time Zechariah says, “in the third chariot white horses”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
