In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD”, and in chapter two and verse eleven of Zechariah, Zechariah shares how Jehovah God said, “many nations shall be joined to the LORD” where we read,
And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people:
and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you.
The verse reads, “And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people:” Zechariah began with the words, “and many nations” or “and an abundant amount, numerous and a multitude of non-Hebrew people groups” “shall be joined” which means “will cleave, cling and adhere” “to the LORD” or “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in that day” which means “within that time period or season”, “and shall be my people” or “and will exist as my, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”. Zechariah shared how a large number of non-Hebrew “nations” would also cleave unto Jehovah God and exist as His “people”.
The verse continues, “and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you.” Zechariah added the words, “and I will dwell” or “and I, Jehovah God, shall live, abide and remain” “in the midst of you” which means “within the middle and center of you, the people nations of the world”, “and you shall know” or “and you, the people of the nations, will perceive, discern, discover and distinguish” “that the LORD of hosts” which means “that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors” “has sent me unto you” or “has dispatched and assigned me, the angel, to you, the people of Israel”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He would live among the “nations” of the world and they would perceive and discern that Jehovah God who rules over the angel armies dispatched the angel to the people of Israel.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God involves Himself in the lives of people. He wants people from all the nations of the world to understand that He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an understanding that He desires to live in the midst of all of us regardless from which “nation” we have come.
Next time Zechariah shared how Jehovah God says, “the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
