In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “after the glory has he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that touches you touches the apple of his eye. For, behold, I will shake my hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me”, and in chapter two and verse ten of Zechariah, Zechariah shares how Jehovah God said, “sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion” where we read,
Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion:
for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD.
The verse reads, “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion:” Zechariah began with the words, “sing and rejoice” or “cry out, shout and give a ringing cry and be glad, exult and be gleesome”, “O daughter of Zion” which means “O female offspring and progeny belonging to Zion whose name means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God instructed the female offspring of the people of Israel to give a ringing cry and be glad.
The verse goes on to say, “for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD.” Zechariah continued with the words, “for, lo, I come” or “because, since and on account that, behold, look and consider, I, Jehovah God, arise and appear”, “and I will dwell” which means “and I, Jehovah God, shall live, abide and remain” “in the midst of you” or “within the middle and center of you, the people of Israel”, “says the LORD” which means “utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God told the people to consider that He will arise and live in the middle of the people of Israel.
When we meditate upon Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God wanted the “daughters” of Israel to give out a ringing cry of music and to be gleeful because He came to live among them. God loves people, and He proved His love when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put a song in our hearts and joy within our souls because He desires to live among us and shall be in the midst of us for all eternity.
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “many nations shall be joined to the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
