The Black, White and Grisled Horses - Zechariah 6:6

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah saw a vision of four chariots coming from two mountains of brass, and they were drawn by red, black, white and grisled and bay horses, and he ask the angel who showed him this vision, “What are these, my lord? And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth”, and in chapter six and verse six of Zechariah, Zechariah said the angel shared about, “the black horses, the white horses and the grisled horses” where we read,

The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.

The verse reads, The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them;Zechariah began with the words, “the black horses” or “the horses that were colored black” “which are therein” which means “that are drawing the chariot”, “go forth into the north country” or “depart, leave and exit toward the land, country, territory, district and region that is in a northern direction”; “and the white” which means “and the horses that were colored white” “go forth after them” or “depart, leave and exit following the horses which were colored black”. Zechariah shared how the “black and white” horses departed toward the northern country from where Zechariah and the people of Israel were located.

The verse goes on to say, “and the grisled go forth toward the south country. Zechariah continued with the words, “and the grisled” or “and the spotted or marked horses as if sprinkled with hail” “go forth toward the south country” which means “depart, leave and exit toward the land, country, territory, district and region which was in a southern direction”. Zechariah shared how the spotted horses departed toward territory which was south of him and the people of Israel.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the black, white and grisled horses were dispatched to different locations which surrounded Israel. The black and white horses left for the northern area, and the grisled to the south. God was surrounding His people with spiritual entities which would perform His will. God rules over the “angel armies” or “hosts”, and they do as He directs them. God was working on behalf of Israel, and He works on our behalf as well. God loves Israel, and He loves us. He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an assurance that He is at work in our lives even when we unaware that He is.

Next time Zechariah tells how the angel shares about, “the bay” horse, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
