In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah saw a vision of four chariots, and the angel told him, “these are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. Then cried he upon me, and spoke unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country”, and in chapter six and verse nine of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the word of the LORD came unto me ...” where we read,
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
The verse reads, “And the word of the LORD ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and the word” or “and the speech, utterance and message” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared about Jehovah God's message which follows.
The verse continues, “... came unto me, saying, ...”. Zechariah added the words, “came unto me” or “happened, took place and fell out to me, Zechariah”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the words in our next verse. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God's speech and message fell out toward him.
When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover another time that Jehovah God was going to speak to him. We shall see what God says in our next verse, but for now let us be reminded that God desires to speak to people through His word, the Bible, and through His Holy Spirit. God loves us, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus was without sin, and yet He took our sin upon Himself so we could have a personal relationship with God. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21) When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to hear Him speak as He gives us direction and guidance for our lives. (See John 16:13)
Next time Zechariah shared how the word of the LORD said, “take of them of the captivity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
