In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “Then lifted I up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven”, and in chapter five and verse ten of Zechariah, Zechariah asked the angel, “where do these bear the ephah?” where we read,
Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Where do these bear the ephah?
The verse reads, “Then said I to the angel that talked with me, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “then said I” or “at that time I, Zechariah, uttered, declared and proclaimed” “to the angel” which means “toward the spiritual messenger and envoy” “that talked with me” or “who spoke, made declarations and communed in the company of me, Zechariah”. Zechariah shared how he began to speak another time with the spiritual envoy who spoke to him.
The verse continues, “... Where do these bear the ephah?” Zechariah added the words, “where do these” or “in what place or location do the two female beings” “bear the ephah” which means “carry the basket or receptacle for measuring or holding a dry measure of quantity that is equal to about nine imperial gallons”? Zechariah shared how he asked the “angel” to what location the “two women” were carrying the basket with the woman inside.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how he continued to be without understanding as to what this vision meant. He conducted himself in a wise way as he once again questioned the “angel” who spoke to him about the meaning. God wants us to ask Him questions, and when He decides it is appropriate to give us a response He will. God answers many of our questions in His word, the Bible, and when we study it, we shall find that He is most concerned with the salvation from our sins which was paid for when His Son Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to come before His throne of grace to receive His mercy and help in our time of need. (See Hebrews 4:16).
Next time Zechariah shares how the angel says, “to build it an house in the land of Shinar”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
