Charged to Build God a House - Ezra 1:2

In the book of Ezra, Ezra wrote, “Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, ...” and in chapter one and verse two of Ezra, Ezra shared how King Cyrus said the LORD“charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem” where we read,

Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

The verse reads, Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth;Ezra began with the words, “thus says Cyrus” or “the following utters, declares and proclaims Cyrus whose name means possess you the furnace” “king of Persia” which means “royal ruler, leader and conqueror belonging to Persia whose name means pure or splendid”, “the LORD God of heaven” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God, the Supreme Deity, belonging to the abode of the stars, the visible sky and the higher ether Jehovah God dwells and the angelic beings”, “has given me” which means “has granted, bestowed, ascribed and consecrated to me, Cyrus” “all the kingdoms of the earth” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the dominions, reigns and sovereignties belonging to the country, territory, region, district and world”. Ezra shared how “Cyrus” the “king of Persia” declared that Jehovah God from His Heavenly abode granted him every dominion and sovereignty within the world.

The verse goes on to say, and he has charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Ezra continued with the words, “and he has charged me” or “and he, Jehovah God, has appointed me, Cyrus” “to build him a house” which means “to establish, make, repair and set up for him, Jehovah God, a dwelling place, abode and habitation” “at Jerusalem” or “in Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”, “which is in Judah” which means “that exists within Judah whose name means praised and was the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon”. Ezra shared how “Cyrus” said Jehovah God appointed him to establish a dwelling place or temple within the city of “Jerusalem” which was located in “Judah”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra how Jehovah God gave “Cyrus” every sovereignty within the world, and He instructed “Cyrus” to rebuild the temple in “Jerusalem” which was located in “Judah”. God was fulfilling the words spoken through “Jeremiah the prophet” that He would set the people of Israel free who were captives in Babylon, and they were to return to their homeland of “Jerusalem”. God loves the people of Israel, and they are the nation through whom the entire world may be saved. God sent His Son Jesus through Israel to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and demonstrate over and over again His preservation of Israel so everyone has an opportunity to live with Him forever in Heaven.

Next time Ezra shares how Cyrus asks, “Who is there among you of all his people?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
