Let the Work Alone - Ezra 6:7

In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared how Darius told, “Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be you far from thence, and in chapter six and verse seven of Ezra, Ezra shared how Darius said, “let the work of this house of God alone”where we read,

Let the work of this house of God alone;

let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

The verse reads, Let the work of this house of God alone;” Ezra began with the words, “let the work of this house” which means “leave the service, ritual and administration belonging to this habitation, abode and dwelling place”, “of God” whose name means “belonging to the Supreme Deity Jehovah God” “alone” or “to remain”. Ezra shared how “Darius” told “Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions the Apharsachites” to leave the service and administration belonging to the temple of Jehovah God to remain.

The verse continues, let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place. Ezra added the words, “let the governor of the Jews” or “allow and permit the captain and overseer belonging to the Jehudaite or Jewish people of Israel” “and the elders of the Jews” which means “and the aged, older and hoary-headed men belonging to the Jehudaite or Jewish people of Israel to” “build this house of God” or “erect, construct and establish the habitation, abode and dwelling place belonging to the Supreme Deity” “in his place” which means “within his, Jehovah God's, location”. Ezra shared how “Darius” instructed “Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions the Apharsachites” to allow the overseer (Zerubabbel) belonging to the Jewish people of Israel and the aged men of Israel to construct the temple of the Supreme Deity Jehovah God within it's location.

When we think through Ezra's words in this verse, we discover how “Darius” continued to command Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions the Apharsachites” to allow the temple of Jehovah God in Jerusalem to remain and be erected by the overseer of the Jewish people, Zerubabel, and the older men within Israel to construct the temple of Jehovah God within it's location. God was working out His plan for the sacred worship place to be rebuilt and the worship of His people the Jews to be reestablished. No one could stop it, and the same may be said for those who desire a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to keep building His temple, ourselves and the church, until we go to be with Him in Heaven someday.

Next time Ezra shares how Darius says, “I make a decree what you shall do to the elders”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
