In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides for ever.”, and in chapter one and verse five of his book Solomon said, “the sun also arises, and the sun goes down”, where we read,
The sun also arises, and the sun goes down, and hastes to his place where he arose.
The verse reads, “The sun also arises, and the sun goes down, …” Solomon began with the words, “the sun also arises” or “the sun in the sky even so and indeed breaks out, rises and shines” ,“and the sun goes down” which means “and the sun in the sky descends and is brought in a downward direction”. Solomon referred to the way the lz in the sky ascends and descends.
The verse goes on to say, “… and hastes to his place where he arose.” Solomon continued with the words, “and hastes to his place” or “and pants, breathes heavy and swallows up its, the sun’s, location that he, the sun” “where he arose” which means “the location and place that he, the sun, ascended and broke out”. Solomon said the “sun” in the sky hurries back to the location that it ascended.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon about the monotony of the “sun” ascending and descending every day. The place the sun rises, it goes back to the same. The idea is that it is an unexciting, repetitive and tiresome cycle. We must remember that Solomon has grown callous in his assessment of the wonders in God’s world. God wants us to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He raised Jesus from the dead after three days, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us who we help us appreciate all the cycles of life He created.
Next time Solomon says, “the wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
