John the apostle wrote about Jesus, “Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country. Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast”, and in chapter four and verse forty-six of his book, John shared about, “a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum” where we read:
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine.
And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
The verse reads, “So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine.”. John began with the words, “So Jesus came again” or “therefore Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate appeared and made entrance” “into Cana” which means “into Cana whose name means place of reeds and was located in Palestine” “of Galilee” or “belonging to the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan whose name means circuit” “where he made” or “in the place and location that Jesus produced” “the water wine” which means “the water into drink made from fruit”. John shared how Jesus was on the move again and entered into the village of “Cana” in “Galilee” which was the location where Jesus “made wine” from “water”.
The verse goes on to say, “And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.” John continued with the words, “and there was a certain nobleman” which means “and there existed a particular regal and royal officer or minister or a prince such as a courtier”, “whose son was sick” or “who had a male offspring and progeny who was weak, feeble, without strength and powerless” “at Capernaum” which means “at a flourishing city of Galilee situated on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee or Lake of Gennesaret, near the place where the Jordan flows into the lake whose name means village of comfort”. John shared how a particular “royal prince” had a “son” who was “feeble and weak” in the town of “Capernaum”.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was on the move again as He went back to the town of “Cana” where He made wine out of water. While He was there, a “particular” royal prince approached Him because His “son” was “sick”. Jesus will minister to this “nobleman” and His son, and we shall see how He meets their needs. God desires to meet the needs of every person who will come to Him through His Son Jesus. He has a plan for their lives, and He will work it out. Those who come to Jesus must “believe and trust” in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and when they do, He shall provide them with forgiveness of sins and everlasting life with His Father God.
Next time John shares how the nobleman, “went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
