Back to Galilee - John 4:43

John the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “Say not you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps. I sent you to reap that whereon you bestowed no labor: other men labored, and you are entered into their labors. And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world”, and in chapter four and verse forty-three of his book, John shared “after two days he departed from there” where we read:

Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee.

The verse reads,Now after two days he departed from there, ...”. John began with the words, “Now after two days” or “then after two days had passed” “he departed from there” which means “Jesus left from the Samaritan city”. John shared how Jesus left from the “Samaritan” city after “two days” time.

The verse continues, ... and went into Galilee. John added the words, “and went into” which means “and arose, approached and entered into” “Galilee” or “the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan whose name means circuit”. John shared how Jesus left the “Samaritan city” and went back into the area known as “Galilee” again.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we notice how Jesus was on the move again. Though His ministry was wonderful and wide-spreading among the “Samaritan” people, Jesus departed from their city to continue His mission. John the apostle previously wrote, “God so loved the world ...” (See John 3:16), and His desire is to reach people throughout the entire earth with the “good news” of His Kingdom. People who receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. In other words, God continues to share His message with everyone, and those who are wise will yield their lives to Him.

Next time John shares how, “Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
