John the apostle wrote, “Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country”, and in chapter four and verse forty-five of his book, John shared when Jesus, “was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him” where we read:
Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
The verse reads, “Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, ...”. John began with the words, “Then when he was come” or “therefore, accordingly and wherefore at the time and moment Jesus arose and approached” “into Galilee” which means “into the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan whose name means circuit”, “the Galilaeans received him” or “the people who were inhabitants of Galilee gave ear to, embraced and approved Jesus”. John shared when Jesus entered into the area of “Galilee”, the people “embraced and approved” of Him.
The verse continues, “... having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.” John added the words, “having seen all the things” which means “because they were acquainted with, saw and beheld the many works, acts and deed” “that he did at Jerusalem” or “that Jesus performed, produced and made ready in the city of Jerusalem which means set you double peace and was the capital of Palestine” “at the feast” which means “at the festival or holy-day”: “for they also went unto the feast” or “because, since and on account that the people in Galilee even so and indeed attended the festival or holy-day”. John shared how the people in “Galilee” attended the “holy festival” where they saw Jesus perform many wonderful acts.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn why the people in “Galilee” received Jesus in the manner they did. They were familiar with Jesus because they saw Him at the festival or “holy” “feast” day where He performed miracles and wonders before their eyes. In other words, they were overjoyed that Jesus would visit their area. Though people who were familiar with Jesus did not “receive” Him, the “Galilaeans” did. Jesus is willing to receive every person who will believe and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and those who are wise will yield their lives to Him and allow Him to use them in any manner He deems best in His Kingdom. Let all who read these words take note of all the things Jesus has done and submit themselves to Him.
Next time John shares about, “a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
