John the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “Say not you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together”, and in chapter four and verse thirty-seven of his book, John shared how Jesus told His disciples, “One sows, and another reaps” where we read:
And herein is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps.
The verse reads, “And herein is that saying true, ...” John began with the Jesus' words, “And herein” or “and with the statement Jesus just made” “is that saying true” which means “exists this valid, sincere and veracious uttering, declaring and proclamation”. John shared how Jesus began to make a “valid and sincere” “saying”.
The verse continues, “... One sows, and another reaps.”. John added the Jesus' words, “One sows” which means “one person whether male or female scatters seed”, “and another reaps” or “and one other person harvests and gathers together the crops”. John shared how Jesus referred to the the “single person” who “scatters seed” and the “single person who harvests” the crops.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus again emphasized the “workers” in the field. Both “sowers” and “reapers” are important within the Kingdom of God, and each of them shall be rewarded according to their work. God's desire is to save people from their sins and use them to serve in His Kingdom telling others about His “gospel”. People who tell others about Jesus will be “rewarded” in God's Kingdom, and those who lead people in prayer to receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be “rewarded” as well. God loves people, and anyone who yields their life to His Son Jesus will not only be forgiven of their sins, but also receive eternal life with God.
Next time John shares how Jesus tells His disciples, “I sent you to reap that whereon you bestowed no labor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
