The Men Go to See Jesus - John 4:30

John the apostle wrote how Jesus met a “Samaritan woman” at a well located near the Samaritan city named Sychar. As they conversed the woman said, “unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus said unto her, I that speak unto you am he. And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What do you seek? or, Why are you talking with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and said to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”, and in chapter four and verse thirty of his book, John shared how the men, “went out of the city, and came unto him where we read:

Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

The verse reads,Then they went out of the city, ...” John began with the words, “then they went out of” or “at that time the men of the city left, departed and separated from” “the city” which means “the dwelling place, habitation and abode in Samaria”. John shared how the “men” from Samaria left the “city” after the “Samaritan woman” told them about Jesus.

The verse goes on to say, ... and came unto him.. John added the words, “and came unto” which means “and arose and approached” “him” or “Jesus”. John shared how the “men” from the “Samaritan city” “approached” Jesus.

When we think through upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the “men” of the “city” in Samaria not only left their “city”, but also went directly to Jesus. These men heard the witness of the Samaritan woman, and departed to see the man about whom she told them. People who hear the testimony of others who have had a personal encounter with Jesus should seek Him themselves and discover that He desires to be the “Savior and Lord” to everyone who will put their faith and trust in Him.

Next time John shares how Jesus', “disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
