In Psalms chapter nine David said, “the LORD shall endure for ever: he has prepared his throne for judgment”, and in chapter nine and verse eight of Psalms David said, “he shall judge the world in righteousness” where we read,
And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
The verse begins, “And he shall judge the world in righteousness, ...” David began with the words, “and he shall judge the world” which means “and he, Jehovah God, will govern over, vindicate and punish the habitable part of the lands, earth and globe” “in righteousness” or “in justice, rightness, justification, deliverance, victory and prosperity”. David shared how Jehovah God will “govern over and vindicate” the entire habitable earth in “rightness and victory”.
The verse continues, “... he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.” David added the words, “he shall minister judgment” or “he, Jehovah God, will contend with, plead, judge and govern” “to the people” which means “toward the community, nation and gatherings of human beings” “in uprightness” or “in evenness, straightness, smoothness and equity”. David wrote how Jehovah God will contend with, plead and govern over all human beings in equity and straightness.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David was assured of the “righteous” judgment of Jehovah God. Not only will Jehovah judge the “world” and the people within it in a good and upright manner, but He will also administer His judgment with equity and straightness. God loves people, and even though people exist as condemned before they receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord, (See John 3:17), His desire is to save them through a personal relationship with Him. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (See John 3:16) When we submit our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins and grant us eternal life with Him. God does indeed “judge” in righteousness, and the basis for His “righteous” judgment will be through His perfect Son Jesus through whom He provided His salvation and redemption plan.
Next time David says, “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
