Sing Praises to the LORD - Psalms 9:11

In Psalms chapter nine David said, “they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you”, and in chapter nine and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “Sing praises to the LORD” where we read,

Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

The verse begins, Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion:” David began with the words, “Sing praises” which means “make music with your voice or musical instruments” “to the LORD” or “toward Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “which dwells in Zion” which means “who lives, abides and inhabits Zion whose name means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. David tells people to break out in song of praise with their voices or musical instruments toward Jehovah God who abide and inhabits “Zion” or “Jerusalem”.

The verse goes on to say, declare among the people his doings.David continued with the words, “declare among the people” or “announce, make known and expound toward the nations, kindred, compatriots and country-men” “his doings” which means “his, Jehovah God's, deeds, practices, exploits and inventions. David told those reading and hearing his words to make known Jehovah God's deeds among the nations and kindreds in the world.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David responded to all the verses he shared previously in this Psalm. Because of the greatness of God, David wanted Him known by everyone. God was to be “praised” in songs, and His works were to be expounded toward all people. God loves people, and He is for them rather than being against them. His desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and when we submit ourselves to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and be with us every day we live upon the earth. This is worthy of our “singing praise” to Him. This is worthy of telling everyone about Him, and we align with David's request when we do these things according to His word.

Next time David says, “he makes inquisition for blood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
