In Psalms chapter nine David said, “the LORD shall endure for ever: he has prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble”, and in chapter nine and verse ten of Psalms David said, “they that know your name will put their trust in you” where we read,
And they that know your name will put their trust in you:
for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.
The verse begins, “And they that know your name will put their trust in you:” David began with the words, “And they that know your name” which means “and the people whether male or female who learn, perceive, discriminate, recognize, acknowledge and confess your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory” “will put their trust” or “will be made secure, bold and confident” “in you” which means “within you, Jehovah God”. David shared how people who “acknowledge and confess” the “reputation and glory” of Jehovah God will place their confidence and faith in Him.
The verse continues, “for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.” David added the words, “for you, LORD” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God”, “have not forsaken them” which means “have in no way left, departed from, abandoned or let alone the people whether male or female” “that seek you” or “who resort to, inquire of and consult with you, Jehovah God”. David wrote how Jehovah God will in no way “abandon” people who resort to and consult with Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how important it is for us to “know” Jehovah's name and reputation. When we do, we will put our “faith and trust” in Him. Paul the apostle said, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (See Romans 10:17), and when we hear, and hear, and hear and hear “the word of God”, we will come to know Him and believe in Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. This is worthy of our belief and trust, and knowing that He “will never leave us nor forsake us” (See Hebrews 13:5) is a benefit to us as we rely upon Him.
Next time David says, “Sing praises to the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
