In Psalms chapter thirty one David said to Jehovah, “you are my rock and my fortress; therefore for your name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for you are my strength. Into your hand I commit my spirit: you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth”, and in chapter thirty one and verse six of Psalms David said to Jehovah, “I have hated them that regard lying vanities”, where we read,
I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
The verse begins, “I have hated them that regard lying vanities:” David began with the words, “I have hated them” which means “I, David, have been odious and hateful like an enemy or foe to the people whether male or female” “that regard lying vanities” or “who keep, guard, observe and give heed to empty, worthless, transitory, unsatisfactory and false vapors or breath”. David said he was as an enemy to people who keep, guard and observe empty, worthless and false breathing, ideas and entities.
The verse goes on to say, “but I trust in the LORD.” David continued the words, “but I trust” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, David, have confidence in, am bold, secure and safe”, “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. David shared how he would place his faith and confidence within Jehovah God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David strongly distanced himself from people who observe false and worthless idols, entities and practices. People who practice “vain” religions, worship false gods and observe rites and rituals that are in no way related to Jehovah God are as enemies to Him. David aligned himself with Jehovah God, and anyone who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and serve the One True God and obey His way unto salvation. God sent Jesus into the world to pay the price of death on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He raise Jesus from the dead three days later, and now everyone is invited to the only true and not empty and vain way to worship. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by me” (See John 14:6). All other ways are empty and vain and those who observe them should take heed the ways of David who “hated” their “lying vanities”.
Next time David says to Jehovah, “I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
