In Psalms chapter eighty one Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries”, and in chapter eighty one and verse fifteen of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “I should soon have subdued their enemies”, where we read,
The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him:
but their time should have endured for ever.
The verse begins, “The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him:” Asaph began with the words, “the haters” or “the odious enemies and foes” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “should have submitted themselves” or “should have cringed, feigned obedience and dissembled their own selves” “unto him” which means “to him, Jehovah God”. Asaph shared how people who were odious to Jehovah God would have cringed and dissembled their own selves to Him.
The verse goes on to say, “but their time should have endured for ever.” Asaph continued with the words, “but their time” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the experiences, fortunes, occurrences and occasions of their, the haters of the LORD” “should have endured” which means “should be punished and doomed” “for ever” or “unto perpetuity, long duration, futurity, everlasting and evermore”. Asaph said the people who “hated” Jehovah God would have been punished and doomed unto perpetuity if Israel would have walked in His ways.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God would have subdued His enemies and the foes of the people of Israel if they had only walked in His ways. God desires to have this type of relationship with every person, and when they hear Him, obey Him and follow His ways, He will defend them against all adversaries. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world so we can be forgiven of our sins and receive everlasting life with Him. O that we might surrender to Jesus and receive Jehovah God's provision and protection against all our foes both now and throughout eternity.
Next time Asaph says, “He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
