My Strength Weakened in the Way - Psalms 102:23

In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist referred to the time, “When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse twenty-three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “he weakened my strength in the way” where we read,

He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

The verse begins, He weakened my strength in the way; The Psalmist began with the words, “he weakened my strength” or “he, Jehovah God, afflicted, oppressed, bowed down and humbled my, the Psalmist's, power, might and ability” “in the way” which means “in the roadway, journey, direction and manner”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God afflicted and humbled his power and ability in the journey of his life.

The verse continues,he shortened my days. The Psalmist added the words, “he shortened” or “he, Jehovah God, vexed, made impatient and grieved” “my days” which means “my, the Psalmist's, evenings and mornings or division of time”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God also vexed and grieved his evenings and mornings.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God caused his power and ability to be afflicted and humbled as he journeyed through his life, and He caused his evenings and mornings to be vexed and grieved. Sometimes it may seem that God is against us, and when we suffer, we often wonder if God is the cause. God, however, loves us, and His desire is to bring us into an intimate relationship in which we trust Him regardless of our circumstances. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us regardless of the situations that arrive on our journey. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their provision of salvation and comfort through the Holy Spirit for our journey.

Next time the Psalmist says, “O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
