In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist said, “I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: your years are throughout all generations”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse twenty-five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Of old have you laid the foundation of the earth” where we read,
Of old have you laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of your hands.
The verse begins, “Of old have you laid the foundation of the earth:” The Psalmist began with the words, “Of old” or “from the ancient time and age” “you have laid” which means “you, Jehovah God, have ordained, fashioned and formed” “the foundation of the earth” or “the establishment, appointment and ordination belonging to the land, country, territory, region or world”. The Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God ordained and fashioned the settle basis of the world.
The verse continues, “and the heavens are the work of your hands.” The Psalmist added the words, “and the heavens” or “and the abode of the stars, visible universe, atmosphere and abode of God” “are the work” which means “exist as the labor, deeds and acts” “of your hands” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, hands of strength, power and ability”. The Psalmist said the skies, atmosphere and abode of Jehovah God are the works and acts of His deeds.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the “heavens and earth” that God has created. He formed the “foundation” of the world, and He set the stars, atmosphere and celestial Heaven before Him. (See Genesis 1) God is all-powerful, and no one else compares to His might and ability. This same God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into His created world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to enjoy His creation of Heaven and Earth with Him forever and ever.
Next time the Psalmist says, “they shall perish, but you shall endure”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
