In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “The LORD executes righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse eight of Psalms David said, “the LORD is merciful and gracious” where we read,
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
The verse begins, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, ...” David began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is merciful” which means “exists as full of compassion” “and gracious” or “and filled with unmerited favor”. David declared Jehovah God to be compassionate and filled with unmerited favor.
The verse goes on to say, “... slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” David continued with the words, “slow to anger” or “patient as with long pinions toward wrath and ire that wrinkles the nostrils, nose and face”, “and plenteous in mercy” which means “and abounding and numerous in goodness, kindness and faithfulness”. David said Jehovah God is patient toward wrath and ire, and He is abounding in goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David shared about the benefits and attributes of Jehovah God. God is “merciful, gracious, slow to anger and abundant in mercy” (See Exodus 34:6-7) , and He desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who came to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He will pour out His unmerited favor upon us when we surrender our lives to Him, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and share His attributes with us in this life and in the life to come.
Next time David says, “he will not always chide”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
