In Psalms one hundred and three David said, “As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse eighteen of Psalms David said this promise is, “to such as keep his covenant” where we read,
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
The verse begins, “To such as keep his covenant, ...” David began with the words, “to such as keep” or “to the people whether male or female who guard, observe and give heed to” “his covenant” which means “his, Jehovah God's, alliance, pledge, treaty, constitution and agreement”. David said Jehovah God is merciful to people who observe and give heed to His pledge and agreement.
The verse goes on to say, “... and to those that remember his commandments to do them.” David continued with the words, “and to those that remember” or “and to the people whether male or female who recall, bring to mind and make a memorial to” “his commandments” which means “his, Jehovah God's, precepts, statutes and mandates” “to do them” or “to perform them, Jehovah God's commandments”. David said Jehovah God's mercy is also extended to people who call to mind and perform His precepts and statutes.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover that Jehovah God is merciful to people who observe His pledge and constitution and who are constantly reminded of and perform His precepts and statues. God knows what is best for us, and His commitment to us is demonstrated through His pledge and statutes for mankind. He knows that we have sinned and violated His laws, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Jesus came into the world to die on the cross for us, and His death and resurrection from the grave three days later demonstrates His willingness to share His mercy with all who believe and trust in Him.
Next time David says, “the LORD has prepared his throne in the heavens”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
