In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon said, “Be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and you upon earth: therefore let your words be few”, and in chapter five and verse three of his book Solomon said, “a dream comes through the multitude of business”, where we read,
For a dream comes through the multitude of business;
and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
The verse reads, “For a dream comes through the multitude of business;” Solomon began with the words, “for a dream” or “because, since and on account that a vision or fantasy” “comes through” which means “enters and comes forth by” “the multitude of business” or “pertaining to the abundance of travail, occupation and activity”. Solomon said a vision is realized through an abundance of activity.
The verse goes on to say, “and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.” Solomon continued with the words, “and a fool’s voice” or “and the sound and noise of uttered words spoken by a dullard, simpleton and stupid fellow” “is known” which means “exists as perceived, discerned and distinguished” “by multitude of words” or “through the means of an abundant and numerous amount of utterances, proclamations and declarations”. Solomon said the noise and sound of uttered words from a simpleton and stupid fellow is recognized through the means of numerous amounts of declarations.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how abundant activity rather than spoken declarations help people to realize their visions. Talk, talk, talk only reveals the dullard’s disposition, but when talk becomes action, “dreams” are realized. God wants us to be people of action even as He acted by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and raised Him from the dead after three days. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to help us make our “words be few” and our activity to be abundant as we serve Him all the days of our lives.
Next time Solomon says, “when you vow a vow unto God, defer not to pay it”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
