Counsel, Sound Wisdom, Understanding and Strength - Proverbs 8:14

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate”, and in chapter eight and verse fourteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “counsel is mine, and sound wisdom” where we read,

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

The verse begins, “Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: Solomon began with the words, “counsel is mine” or “advice, purpose, plan and prudence exists as mine, wisdom's”, and sound wisdom which means “and efficient knowledge and abiding success”. Solomon shared how advice and purpose as well as efficient knowledge and abiding success are possessed by “wisdom”.

The verse goes on to say, “I am understanding; I have strength.” Solomon continued with the words, “I am understanding” or “I, wisdom, exist as discernment and faculty”; “I have strength” which means “I, wisdom, hold and possess might, valor, bravery and victory”. Solomon said “wisdom” exists as discernment and possesses might, bravery and victory.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn about some of the qualities of “wisdom” through Solomon. God's “wisdom” is filled with good advice, and it possesses efficient knowledge as well. When we have “wisdom”, we gain discernment in difficult situations, and we have the might and valor to sustain hard times. God offers His “wisdom” to everyone when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. As we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and equip us with His “wisdom” to manage our lives according to His purposes and plans for us. Let all praise, honor and glory be given unto Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their willingness to provide us with “counsel, sound wisdom, understanding and strength”.

Next time Solomon says, “by me kings reign”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
