In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it”, and in chapter eight and verse twelve of Proverbs Solomon said, “I wisdom dwell with prudence” where we read,
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
The verse begins, “I wisdom dwell with prudence, ...” Solomon began with the words, “I wisdom” or “I, skill, shrewdness and discretion” “dwell with prudence” which means “live, abide and make habitation alongside craftiness and subtlety”. Solomon shared how God's skill and shrewdness lives with discretion and craftiness.
The verse continues, “... and find out knowledge of witty inventions.” Solomon added the words, “and find out knowledge” or “and attain, secure, acquire and encounter perception, discernment and understanding” “of witty inventions” which means “pertaining to purpose, discretion, plot and device”. Solomon said “wisdom” also secures and acquires understanding of purpose and discretion.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how God's “skill and shrewdness” abides with subtlety, and it attains understanding of purpose and discretion as well. God wants us to conduct ourselves in “wise” ways, and He will reveal His “understanding and discretion” to everyone who yields themselves to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to have His subtle “wisdom” and perception of purpose every day of our lives.
Next time Solomon says, “the fear of the LORD is to hate evil”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
