In the book of Proverbs Solomon asked, “Does not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?”, and in chapter eight and verse two of Proverbs Solomon said, “she stands in the top of high places” where we read,
She stands in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
The verse begins, “She stands in the top of high places, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “she stands” or “she, wisdom, is upright, set, established and stationed” “in the top” which means “within the summit, upper part, chief and height” “of high places” or “belonging to elevated and high above locations”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” is elevated above everyone in locations which are established and stationed.
The verse continues, “... by the way in the places of the paths.” Solomon added the words, “by the way” or “upon, beyond and above the road, journey, manner, direction and habit” “in the places” which means “within the locations” “of the paths” or “belonging to the trodden pathways of the traveler”. Solomon said “wisdom” is also located upon the roadway within the locations where people travel.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how “wisdom” is readily available for everyone to enjoy. God cares for us, and He proved His love when He sent His Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His “wisdom” in many exalted places through His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth so we may live with “understanding” before His eyes.
Next time Solomon says, “she cries at the gates, entry of the city and the coming in at the doors”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
