He That Speaks Lies - Proverbs 19:9

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that gets wisdom loves his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good”, and in chapter nineteen and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “a false witness shall not be unpunished” where we read,

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.

The verse begins, A false witness shall not be unpunished, ...” Solomon began with the words, “a false witness” or “a person who gives lying, deceptive, disappointing and fraudulent evidence and testimony” “shall not be unpunished” which means “will in no way exist as pure, innocent, desolate, empty, cleaned out and purged”. Solomon shared how the person who gives fraudulent testimony will in no way escape purging and cleansing.

The verse continues, “... and he that speaks lies shall perish.” Solomon added the words, “and he that speaks lies” or “and the person whether male or female who utters, declares and proclaims untruths, falsehoods and deceptive words” “shall perish” which means “will vanish, go astray, be destroy and exterminated”. Solomon said the person who utters and declares untruths and deceptive words will be destroyed and vanish.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that people who give deceptive testimonies will not escape purging, and should they utter falsehoods, they will be destroyed. “God is not a man that He should lie” (See Numbers 23:19), and He said, “you shall not bear false witness” (See Exodus 20:16; Deuteronomy 5:20). Because we “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us into all “truth” by His Holy Spirit who will empower us to keep away from lying and deception. (See John 16:33; Acts 1:8)

Next time Solomon says, “delight is not seemly for a fool”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
