In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon began with the words, “The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's”, and in chapter one and verse two of Song of Songs Solomon introduced the bride in this story as she said,“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth” where we read,
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for your love is better than wine.
The verse begins, “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth:” Solomon began with the words, “let him kiss me” or “allow and permit him, the groom, touch me, the bride to be, gently with his lips” “with the kisses” which means “by the use of the gentle soft touches of his lips” “of his mouth” or “belonging to his, the groom's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking” Solomon shared how the bride desired for the groom to touch her gently with the lips of his “mouth”.
The verse continues, “for your love is better than wine.” Solomon added the words, “for your love” or “because, since and on account that your, the groom's, boiling passion such as a love-token or as from a lover” “is better than wine” which means “exists as more pleasant, agreeable, excellent, rich and valuable than the fruit of the vine such as grapes”. Solomon shared how the bride wanted the groom to “kiss” her with “the kisses of his mouth” because his “heated passion” for her exceeded all other passions and affections that were available.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon began this love story by sharing how the bride desired to be affectionately touched by the groom. Tenderness, fondness, acceptance, warmth and affection are desired by every person who begins to realize who Jesus is and what He has done for them. Jesus was sent by His Father God into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion and desire to be gently touched and received by Him for all eternity because His love exceeds every other “love” that is available in the world.
Next time Solomon shares how the bride says, “your name is as ointments poured forth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
