In chapter one and verse one of the book of Song of Songs Solomon wrote,“the Song of Songs” where we read,
The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's.
The verse begins, “The Song of Songs, ...” Solomon began with the words, “the song” or “the lyrical and musical ode” “of Songs” which means “pertaining to lyrical and musical odes”. Solomon declared this “musical and lyrical ode” to be the “musical ode” among “musical and lyrical odes”.
The verse goes on to say, “... which is Solomon's.” Solomon continued with the words, “which is” or “that exists as” “Solomon's” which means “that belongs to Solomon whose name means peace and was the son of David by Bathsheba and the third king of Israel. Solomon claimed to be the writer and owner of this “Song of Songs”.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon began this book not only by declaring the name of it, but also it's position among all the other musical and lyrical odes that he wrote. This “Song of Songs” was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God (See 2 Timothy 3:16-17), and as we read and ponder these words, may we realize God's great love toward us that was demonstrated when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to realize “the breadth, and length, and depth, and height” of His love toward us. (See Ephesians 3:18-19)
Next time Solomon shares how the bride says, “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
