The Word of the LORD - Zechariah 4:8

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God asked, “Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it”, and in chapter four and verse eight of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the word of the LORD came unto me” where we read,

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying ...

The verse reads, “Moreover the word of the LORD ...” Zechariah began with the words, “moreover the word” or “in addition and furthermore the speech, declaration and proclamation” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” did the following. Zechariah shared how there was an additional speech and utterance from Jehovah God. 

The verse continues, “... came unto me, saying ...” Zechariah added the words, “came unto me” or “happened, came to pass, arose and appeared to me, Zechariah”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the words in the following verse. Zechariah shared how the “word of God” came to him another time uttering the words in our next verse. 

When we meditate upon Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how there was an additional speech from Jehovah God which shall be revealed in our next verse. God is continually speaking through His word and His Spirit, and those who give attention to His word and voice habitually will come to know Him more and more. God wants us to believe and trust in Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and speak to us continually concerning His desires for us and the way He wants to use us in His Kingdom. 

Next time Zechariah says, “the hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
