Not Coming to Worship the King - Zechariah 14:17

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles, and in chapter fourteen and verse seventeen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared what Jehovah God said about those, “who will not come up of all the families of the earth” where we read,

And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

The verse reads, And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, ... Zechariah began with the words, “and it shall be” or “and the following shall exist”, “that whoso will not come up” which means “that whatever person whether male or female who will in no way or manner rise up and ascend” “of all the families” or “belonging to each, every, the whole and everyone of the clans, tribes, people and nations” “of the earth” which means “belonging to the countries, regions, districts, territories and world” “unto Jerusalem” or “to Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split” “to worship the King” which means “to bow down, prostrate and give homage to the Royal Ruler and Leader”. Zechariah shared how it shall come into existence that any person who refuses to ascend to “Jerusalem” with every clan or tribe in the world to give homage and adoration to the Royal Ruler will experience the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.  Zechariah continued with the words, “the LORD of hosts” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”, “even upon them” which means “also and indeed on them, the people who refuse to go to Jerusalem and worship the Royal Ruler” “shall be no rain” or “will exist not in any capacity water droplets or showers falling from the sky”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God would prevent rain showers from falling upon the people who refuse to go up to “Jerusalem” to give homage to Him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how there will be consequences for not complying with the annual worship of the Royal King in the city of “Jerusalem”. God will not allow rain showers to fall upon the disobedient and non-complying people groups. Everyone is invited to have a personal relationship with Jehovah God through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us by His Holy Spirit the importance of worshiping Him and not being restricted from “rain” falling upon us.

Next time Zechariah shares what happens, “if the family of Egypt go not up”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
