In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague”, and in chapter fourteen and verse sixteen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God shared what happens to, “every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem” where we read,
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
The verse reads, “And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and it shall come to pass” or “and the following will happen and occur”, “that every one that is left” which means “that each, all, and the whole of the people both male and female who remain, are left behind and are the rest” “of all the nations” or “belonging to each, every, the whole and everyone of the foreign, non-Hebrew and Gentile people groups” “which came against Jerusalem”which means “who arose in opposition to Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split” “shall even go up from year to year”or “will ascend, climb and retreat from annual division of time to annual division to time” “to worship the King” which means “to bow down, prostrate and give homage to the Royal Ruler and Leader”. Zechariah shared how it will happen that all the people who remain from the non-Hebrew and foreign people groups who rose up in opposition to “Jerusalem”will go to “Jerusalem” annually to adore and give homage to the “Royal Ruler”.
The verse continues, “... the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.” Zechariah added the words, “the LORD of hosts” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”, “and to keep the feast” which means “and to hold a feast or festival and make pilgrimage” “of tabernacles” or “pertaining to thickets, coverts, booths or temporary shelters”. Zechariah shared how the people will give homage to Jehovah God who rules over angel armies, and to observe the festivals of the booths. (See Leviticus 23:33-36, 43; Isaiah 60:6-9; 66:18-23; Joel 2:32)
When we think through Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how all the foreign nations who remain that rose in opposition to “Jerusalem” will ascend to “Jerusalem” annually to observe the “feast of Tabernacles”. God has a way to make even His enemies comply with His ways, and because we are all sinners and have violated His law, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a willingness to comply with His ways of worship for all eternity.
Next time Zechariah shares what happens to those, “who will not come up of all the families of the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
