Nehemiah Comes to Jerusalem - Nehemiah 2:11

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel”and in chapter two and verse eleven of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “I came to Jerusalem”, where we read,

So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.

The verse reads, So I came to Jerusalem, .... Nehemiah began with the words, “so I came” or “therefore, wherefore and then I, Nehemiah, arrived and entered”, “to Jerusalem” which means “into Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Nehemiah told how he entered into the city of “Jerusalem”.

The verse goes on to say, “... and was there three days.” Nehemiah continued with the words, “and was there” or “and stayed there, in Jerusalem for” “three days” which means “three sunrises to sunsets”. Nehemiah shared how he stayed in the city of “Jerusalem” for three sunrises to sunsets.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah how he finally arrived in “Jerusalem”, and he stayed within the city for three sunrises to sunsets. After prayer, planning and implementing wise moves along his journey, Nehemiah came to “Jerusalem” where we shall discover what he did while he was there. God's plan for him and the city of Jerusalem was coming together, and God wants a plan for us to be that way as well. He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to be resurrected after three days. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us by His Holy Spirit into all truth while empowering us to live according to that truth all throughout our lives.

Next time Nehemiah says, “I arose in the night” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
