God Owns It All - Equipped for Battle

A man was sitting by another man at the funeral of a very wealthy friend. “I wonder how much he left?” said the one man to the other. “Huh, that's easy” responded the other man, “He left it all.” Think about it for a moment. How much did each person have in their possession when they were first born on the earth? Now, how much will they have when they leave? If the answer was, “nothing”, then the reader has earned an “A” for the day. The truth is that there is no material wealth that is eternal enough to last, and those who are wise will understand early that it is truly God who owns it all.

“The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and they that live therein” is how David the King of Israel wrote it in Psalm 24:1. David understood that everything belonged to the Lord, and there was nothing that he had in his possession that was not given to him by God. In other words, David knew that he was not a “self made man” but rather a man who was blessed by God above.

There is much to be said about the natural tendency to gather wealth, fame, and material possessions that are offered in this world. They do seem to be the pursuit of many, however, if a person will realize that all of these will remain on this earth after their departure, there will be a completely different outlook on life. The greatest pursuit is not one that is material at all. Jesus Christ said it like this, “And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

If the reader desires riches and wealth that last forever, he or she will pursue a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and will understand that all of the other blessings are simply God's tools for sharing His love with others in this world.

Until tomorrow...there is more...
