John the apostle wrote how Jesus, “was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”, and in chapter one and verse thirteen of his book, John shared how these “sons of God”, “were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” where we read:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The verse reads, “Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, ...” John began with the words, “Which were born” or “who were engendered, caused to arise and regenerated”, “not of blood” which means “not by or through kindred of man”, “nor of the will of the flesh” or “not and in no way by or through the wish, purpose, desire, inclination or pleasure pertaining to the natural or physical body or natural generation”. John shared how the “Sons of God” are not “engendered” through means of “mankind” or by the “desire and pleasure” of physical and natural generation.
The verse goes on to say, “... nor of the will of man, but of God.” John continued with the words, “nor of the will of man” which means “no and not in any way by the desire, purpose, inclination of a person whether male or female”, “but of God” or “however, notwithstanding, nevertheless and moreover from the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John shared how those who became the “Sons of God” were not in any way according to the “desire and pleasure” of “people”, but rather by “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how the people who “received” God's Son Jesus became the Sons of God who were “born” not through “blood, the will of the flesh or the will of man” but by “God” Himself. This is the idea of being “born again” by the “Spirit” of God. People are “born” of their mothers in the “flesh, with blood and by man's desire”, but people who believe and trust in God's Son Jesus as their personal “Lord and Savior” are “born” of the Spirit. These shall receive forgiveness for their sins and everlasting life with God in Heaven. This is why Jesus came, and anyone who carefully considers what Jesus did so they could be “saved” should yield their lives to Him and be “born again”.
Next time John shares how, “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
